An historical quarry stone in the Alps

First evidence of local stone's extraction is dated back to 1400. After establishment of Savoia's kingdom stone's use has become more continuous. Several monuments, bridges and palaces in Turin were covered with stone slabs coming from Combassa Quarry.

Professionalism and Experience

After several years of disuse, the quarry is now managed by the second generation of Picapera ( traditional name to indicate Stonecutters ). It was re-opened in the 60's by Sergio Perino that worked there for over 50 years. His unique experience and professionalism have then become the element that made the difference when he mentored the actual owner: the 27 years old Fabio Durando.

Hand finishing and attention to detail.

"La Breccia" can finished stone products, naturally splitted, with bush hammering and hand finishing.

Hand splitting gives to stones a unique shape that follows the veins present within this type of Gneiss. This is an ancient technique that was handed down by ancient local stonecutters
